About the Client
The client is one of the world's largest automotive parts manufacturers specializing in infotainment and connectivity, complete vehicle electrical systems, HVAC and automotive safety, powertrain & chassis components.
Business & Technology Context
The client was looking for a partner who could independently develop a high quality HMI with tight delivery schedule. The unique and feature-rich infotainment module would be future-proof of any technology innovations. KPIT successfully fulfilled these requirements with the engagement starting in April 2015 planned for deliverables within a span of two years.

Scope of work for KPIT - High alignment with customer processes, practices, tools

KPIT's Solution
KPIT created a joint IP in HMI development framework- ‘Kwik framework’ for the client. Apart from the high level design & detailed HMI framework, the scope of the work included HMI (QML) & HMI Model development using (Qt/C++), business Logic development & middleware integration. ‘Kwik’ HMI was deployed to improve the overall reusability, productivity, maintainability and quality.
  • Centralized configuration and build mechanism.
  • HMI design & application development around applications such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Audio/Radio, Media, Connection Manager, Projection, Messaging, Phone, Vehicle Function & Voice Recognition.
  • Verification & validation strategies – for unit testing, functional testing and integration testing targeted at 100% requirement coverage.
These activities included requirement analysis for identifying gaps, coding with MISRA C++ guidelines, HMI testing on host PC Automated execution (squish), unit test case development, functional test cases development & automated test execution with coverage.
